This Week in Crestwood Baseball: Week of March 2nd

Practice this week will remain the same Monday and Tuesday. If Basketball wins Tuesday we will keep the schedule the rest of the week as is, it they do not we will adjust our times as they have the gym 3:00-4:30 time slot and we would likely move to a 3:00 start time on days we were to practice after them. Our practice schedule and game schedules are available on Google Calendar.
Weather looks promising this week, players should prepare accordingly to be outside.
Individual Meetings:
Those that have been at practice last week will meet with the coaching staff this week to discuss what we have seen after one week with the discussion centered around their pre-season questionnaire answers,  2020 role possibilities, strengths, areas of improvement, academics, and how their attitude/behavior has been. We will encourage your son to discuss what we talk about with them. We will meet with them the week of March 23rd. Bigger program make cuts and establish teams after one week of practice. Being a small school with a small roster we want players to get a full 5 weeks of practice before determining who is V/JV/Starter/Role Player, etc. In order to make time for them we will need to meet before and after practice.

We will have our first round of grade checks due by the end of the week that must be signed by every teacher and parent before turning in to us prior to Friday's practice.
Winter Sport Athletes:
Best of luck to all our basketball players, bowlers and wrestlers as they continue on in the post-season! We all wish you the best of luck and stay healthy :) Once their season is completed they can begin practice. If players need some time off please communicate with me so can know when to expect them at practice, thanks to those who have already done so.
NATR/Fundraising Meeting:
12/26 families on our Final Forms list have completed our Night at the Races Survey, if you have not done so please do so ASAP. We will have another meeting to discuss planning it on Tuesday, March 3rd 7:30PM High School Cafe for those who wish to help. Thanks to all who have been attending, we have been making huge progress but still have a ways to go. Attached is a letter about our group.
Each family is expected to donate a basket that will be raffled off. Here is a link to sign-up for which basket idea you will bring: 2020 Crestwood NATR Basket Sign-Up
We currently have 55/200 tickets confirmed, 46/100 horses sponsored, and 8/11 races sponsored. 2020 NATR Spreadsheet
CASB Concessions:
Thank you Mr. & Mrs. Dustman, Mr. & Mrs. Ward and Mrs. Rowe for their help this past Friday, it helped our team raise $150 from CASB.
Team Meals:
We have our first team meal this Wednesday, March 4th @ 5:00 before our 6:00-9:00 practice. Cheryl Bascombe created a Signup Genius for us that should be able to click on the link and sign up for what you can bring this week, thanks to those who have volunteered!
Baseball Belts, Socks and Pants:
These need to be purchased by families if they have already not done do. We wear red belts, red socks and solid white pants (no color line down leg) for both JV and Varsity.
Team Spirit Wear:
These will arrive on Monday! These are items that players must purchase. I will have a breakdown of costs ASAP, likely by Tuesday. Spirit wear includes:
  1. Hat (new players only)
  2. 3/4 sleeve shirt (1)
  3. Practice Shorts (1)
  4. Practice Shirt (1)
  5. Game Day Shirts (2)
Free College Recruiting Showcase:
Our District qualifies for sending three (3) players to a free college showcase on June 29th at Baldwin Wallace University run my My Inner Warrior. First come, first serve - if interested please let me know and I'll need additional information, at this point no one has asked.
Lakeside Sand & Gravel Donation:
Melanie Daniels was able to get our program a donation from Lakeside Sand & Gravel to pay for Gatorade and snacks for our team bus trips to away games. Huge thanks to Melanie and Lakeside, this will save us hundreds of dollars this spring!
Catching Equipment Clarification:
If your son is a catcher the chest protector equipment is no longer compliant and will need a new set that is NOCSAE certified. Every piece of equipment must be NOCSAE certified, some helmets and shin guards are already but the old chest protectors most likely are not. CASB has agreed to purchase two sets for the program for players to use this spring.
